One of the wonderful things about cocktails is that the recipes are often for one. Here’s what I’m drinking on this beautiful October evening.

Just Like Honey, Adapted from Dominica’s cocktail menu

2 oz. Four Roses or other small-batch bourbon

1 oz. Barenjager

1 oz. lemon juice

Twist of lemon peel (optional)

I’ve made this drink two ways:

1. Put ice in a cocktail shaker. Pour bourbon, Barenjager, and lemon juice over the ice. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist.

2. Pour the bourbon, Barenjager, and lemon juice into a rocks glass. Stir. If you like, drop in an ice cube and stir again.

Here’s to fall, and the loveliest month in New Orleans. Enjoy!
